Entering the structure, it looks as if it could have been a small town or village -- with 'streets' and many buildings. It's known that many of these sites were built over long periods of time, with later construction sometimes being finished by the next generation -- and the difference is obvious. Original construction, possibly by Pachacuti Inca, might have been completed later by one of his sons, using the more 'rustic' style of stonework near the top.


Some of the rooms and buildings may have had religious significance, and the layout of buildings aligned with the landscape seems well planned.


This site is located at the top of the terraces, with great views of the sacred valley below. We explore a while longer before heading down.
