Inca architecture is notable for its beautifully worked stone blocks and remarkable craftsmanship. Thick walls and trapezoid doors & windows allow these buildings to survive earthquakes common here during the past 800-1000 years.


The precision of the stonework is extraordinary, and it's not fully understood how they accomplished this with the tools of the time.


Above the original Inca foundations are the 'newer' Spanish buildings.
