I'm staying in the Rey Apartments in Reykjavik, right behind this colorful music store (operated by the followers of Sri Chinmoy -- whom some of us know from Queens). Many stores and houses here are painted nice bright colors, and it's easy to find restaurants and food from all over (pizza, Mexican, Indian, Irish pubs, bakeries, and even bagels! -- plus of course local Icelandic food and shops, often featuring a very tasty meat soup).


I pause for this picture and explore the shopping district in town, finding dinner at a local restaurant nearby. It's cool enough to need a coat -- but comfortable. Many buildings are painted with murals, and art seems an important part of the culture here.
